The Card Box Co is a small British wedding hire business based in London, specialising in beautiful post boxes for your wedding day. We hire authentic Royal Mail style post boxes in red, white and green Irish, complete with a free personalised insert featuring your names, wedding date and venue. We deliver and collect anywhere in the UK at no extra cost, so you can focus on enjoying your day.
Where we started
The Card Box Co grew out of Hues and Reflections, our Etsy shop selling personalised wedding inserts and keepsakes. After designing hundreds of inserts for couples across the country, we kept hearing the same thing: couples wanted the whole package, a stunning post box and a beautiful insert, from one place they could trust.
So we built it. The Card Box Co brings together our design expertise and our love of wedding details to offer a complete hire service, from choosing your style to keeping your insert as a memento long after the day is done.

Booking and dates
How do I book a post box?
Choose the style you want from our post box collection, select your wedding dates on the product page, fill in your names, wedding date and venue for the personalised insert, and check out. You will receive a confirmation email straight away.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking as soon as you have your wedding date confirmed, especially for weddings in peak season (May to September). Popular dates and styles can book up months ahead.
Can I book a post box for a date that isn't a Saturday?
Yes, you can hire a post box for any day of the week. Just pick your dates on the booking calendar.
What happens after I book?
You will receive an instant confirmation email with your booking details. Closer to your wedding date we will be in touch to confirm delivery timings and the wording on your personalised insert.
Can I change or cancel my booking?
Yes, get in touch as soon as possible if you need to change dates or cancel. We will always do our best to accommodate, subject to availability
Delivery and collection
Do you deliver across the UK?
Yes, we offer free delivery and collection anywhere in mainland UK. We work with couples in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
When will my post box arrive?
We deliver 2 days before your wedding and collect 2 days after, all included free of charge. We confirm the exact delivery and collection timings with you closer to the date.
Where will my post box be delivered to?
Wherever suits you, your home, your venue, or a friend or family member's address. Just let us know at booking.
Do I need to be in to receive the delivery?
Yes, our courier needs a signature, so please make sure someone is available at the delivery address.
How is the post box collected after the wedding?
We arrange the courier to collect from the same address (or a different one if you prefer). You don't need to do anything except have the post box packed and ready.
Is the delivery really free?
Yes, completely. Free UK delivery and free UK collection are included with every hire, with no hidden fees.
The post boxes
What styles do you offer?
We hire three post box styles: a classic red Royal Mail post box, a white Royal Mail post box and an Irish green post box with the traditional gold harp. Each has its own character and pairs beautifully with different wedding styles.
How big are the post boxes?
Each box measures approximately 57cm tall, 24cm wide and 37cm deep. They sit comfortably on a card table without overwhelming it.
How heavy are they?
Each post box weighs around 16kg as they are solid cast iron. We recommend two people to lift one safely on the day.
Are the post boxes lockable?
Yes, every post box is fully lockable and comes with 2 keys, so your cards and gifts stay secure throughout the day and overnight.
How many cards do they hold?
Comfortably enough for a typical wedding. Larger gifts that don't fit through the slot can be left on the table beside the box.
Are they suitable for outdoor weddings?
Our cast iron post boxes are weather resistant, but we recommend keeping them under cover (a marquee, gazebo or just out of direct rain) to protect the painted finish.
Personalisation
What is the personalised insert?
A keepsake card printed with your names, wedding date and venue, designed in house by us. It slots into the front of the post box in place of the traditional collection-times card. Yours to keep after the wedding.
Is the insert really free?
Yes, included with every hire, no upgrades or hidden fees.
Can I see a preview of my insert before the wedding?
Yes, we send you a digital preview of your insert before printing so you can check the wording and approve it.
Can I request a bespoke insert design?
